As you know, the Morristown Public Library is a public library in name only. We are actually what is by law an Association library. Normally this doesn’t mean much, but currently this is an important difference. Being an Association Library means we fall under NYS HERO Act. When the Governor calls a State of Emergency, the HERO Act goes into effect for all private businesses and alas, Association libraries. It means we are mandated by law to uphold the conditions of the Act, to name a pertinent few: 1. Properly worn masks 2. limited occupancy 3. no indoor meetings or programs 4. Health screening for everyone before entry Yes, this means we must revert back to safety conditions as they were a year ago. We apologize for the inconvenience but ask you to be patient. Our community’s safety is, and will always be, inherent within the mission of the Trustees and Staff. As of this morning, all indoor programs are cancelled, including Movie Mondays and Saturday’s craft project.
